School-record 111 student-athletes land on 2013-14 MIAA Academic Honor Roll

A school-record 111 Olivet College student-athletes have landed a spot on the 2013-14 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Academic (MIAA) Honor Roll. Olivet topped the 100 plateau for the first time in school history, with the previous high being 91 for both the 2006-07 and 2007-08 academic years.

Three Olivet College football players, Braden Black, Kyle Bryson and Justin Madar, have earned All-MIAA honors. In addition, senior punter Anthony Edwards has received the Pete Schmidt Scholar-Athlete award.

University rallied to beat the Comets, 47-41, in overtime this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.

The Olivet College football team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 34-7 over Rockford (Ill.) University this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex. The 3-0 is the best start to a season since 2004 when the Comets also had a 3-0 record.

Sophomore quarterback Braden Black (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) broke the single-game school records for touchdown passes (six) and total offensive yards (378), and tied the single-game passing yards record (349), as the football beat Wilmington College, 48-27, in its season-opener this afternoon at Williams Stadium in Wilmington, Ohio.
