Olivet ninth at MIAA Jamboree #1

SAUGATUCK, Mich. –The University of Olivet women's golf team opened the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) portion of its schedule with a ninth-place finish at the first jamboree, hosted by Hope College and played at the Clearbrook Golf Course.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Comets had a 379 team score.
- Defending MIAA champion Saint Mary's (Ind.) College took first with a 313 team score.
- Melanie Maier from Saint Mary's and Grace Dubec from Trine (Ind.) University shared medalist honors with matching 75s.
FOR THE COMETS
- Junior Ella LaMothe shot Olivet's low round with an 80 to tie for sixth in the player standings. Beginning her day on hole No. 10, she shot a six over par 42 on the back nine before shooting a two-over par 38 on the front nine. LaMothe had three birdies on the front nine – a three on No. 1, a three on No. 4 and a four on No. 5.
- Senior Rylee Honsowitz completed her round in 92 strokes.
- Freshman Ryleigh Reese carded a 98.
- Freshman Madison Cowhy added to the Comets' score with a 109.
