UOlivet trio earns USTFCCCA All-Great Lakes Region honors
NEW ORLEANS, La. – A trio of members of The University of Olivet men's track & field team have earned All-Great Lakes Region honors, according to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Olivet's honorees are senior Jordon Brown, and freshmen DeVondre Chandler and Owen Fremeau. The top five individuals and members of the top three relays in each region receive this honor.
Brown posted the region's quickest time in the 200-meter dash (21.02) and fourth-quickest 400-meter dash time (47.19). Chandler was fifth regionally in the high jump at 2.04 meters (6'8.25"). Fremeau recorded the region's second-best mark in the discus throw at 49.54 meters (162'6"). Each of the four Olivet performances are also school outdoor records.
With his selection, Brown becomes an eight-time USTFCCCA All-Great Lakes Region honoree. His other selections were in 2020, 2021, 2023 and 2024 indoors, and 2021, 2022 and 2023 outdoors. Brown is the first men's track and field student-athlete in school history to be both a four-time All-Region Outdoor selection and eight-time All-Region student-athlete.
Brown will compete in his two events at the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships this Thursday-Saturday in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The 200-meter dash preliminaries are Thursday night at 6:55 p.m., and 400-meter dash prelims are Friday afternoon at 5:15 p.m. The finals in those events are Saturday at 5:20 p.m. for the 400 and 6:50 p.m. for the 200.
