Men’s Track & Field: Fremeau and Brown lead Olivet at MIAA Field Day

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Freshman Owen Fremeau and senior Jordon Brown led The University of Olivet men's track and field team at the first day of the 2024 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Field Day inside the Gainey Athletic Complex in Grand Rapids.
- With five events scored, the Comets have 24 points and are tied for fifth with Adrian College in the team standings. Trine (Ind.) University is first with 64 points, followed by Albion College (46), Hope College (39) and Calvin University (37).
- Fremeau captured the MIAA title in the hammer throw with a season-best mark of 161 feet, 6 inches.
- Brown finished second in the long jump (21 feet, 9-1/2 inches) and advanced to tomorrow's finals in the 200- and 400-meter dashes. He ran the fastest 400 prelim time at 48.69 seconds and fourth-fastest 200 prelim time at 21.60 seconds.
- Freshman Austin Cole was sixth in the shot put (45 feet, 11-1/4 inches).
- Freshman Peter Moore placed seventh in the long jump (21 feet).
- Freshman Keegan Nutt scored an eighth-place point in the pole vault (12 feet, 11-1/2 inches).
- Sophomore Jonathan Holloway advanced to the finals in the 400-meter hurdles, as he clocked-in with the sixth-fastest and personal-best time of 57.01 seconds.
- Senior Chris Davis earned a spot in the 800-meter dash finals with a prelim time of 1:57.85.
- Sophomore Dontal Wright snuck into tomorrow's 400-meter dash finals with the eighth-quickest prelim time at 50.19 seconds. The time ranks eighth in school history.
- Also, in the 800-meter run, sophomore Anthony DeVito did not make the finals, but he posted a personal-best time of 2:06.04.
- Freshman Kem Blassingame ran the seventh-fastest time in school history in the 110-meter hurdles at 16.30 seconds.
- The second day of the MIAA Field Day is tomorrow with the remaining field event finals, starting at 12 p.m. Finals in the track events are set to commence at 3:30 p.m.
