Men’s Indoor Track & Field: Two school records highlight Jack Skoog Open

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The University of Olivet men's track and field team set two school records, as the Comets opened their 2024 indoor season today at the Central Michigan University / Jack Skoog Open.
- Senior Jordon Brown won three individual events, as ran a leg of a winning relay. Highlighting his performances was a school-record time of 6.90 seconds in the 60-meter dash. Brown's other wins were in the 200-meter dash (22.22) and long jump (22 feet, 3-3/4 inches). The 60 time and converted 200-time (21.83) rank 13th on the NCAA Division III Performance List. Brown was joined by sophomores Jonathan Holloway and Dontal Wright, and freshman Luke Leighton on the winning 4x400-relay (3:31.13).
- Freshman DeVondre Chandler took first in the high jump, clearing the bar at a school indoor record height of 6 feet, 4-3/4 inches.
- Senior Chris Davis earned first-place finishes in the 600-meter run (1:26.47) and 800-meter run (1:59.83).
- Sophomore Anthony DeVito ran a personal-best time of 2:11.72 in the 800-meter run.
- Holloway and junior Kameron Newman both completed the 200-meter dash in a personal-best indooor time of 24.08 and 24.20 seconds, respectively.
- Junior Aaron Garcia posted personal-best marks of 34 feet, 2-1/4 inches in the shot put and 34 feet, 10-1/4 inches in the weight throw.
- Senior David Sinkler had a lifetime best mark of 44 feet, 9 inches in the weight throw.
- Freshman Keegan Nutt was the runner-up finisher in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 12 feet, 11-1/2 inches.
- The Comets compete next Saturday, January 27, at the Wittenberg (Ohio) University STEEMER Showcase.
