Seventy-nine Olivet College student-athletes have been named to the 2010-11 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) honor roll.

Olivet College senior Ben Kosmalski has earned 2011 All-MIAA second-team honors in baseball. All-league honors are based on a player’s statistics during the 28-game MIAA schedule.

Baseball team ends season with doubleheader split against Trine

The baseball team celebrated Senior Day by splitting a MIAA doubleheader with visiting Trine (Ind.) University today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. After being shutout 3-0 in the opener, the Comets bounced back to win the nightcap 7-2 behind a complete game pitching performance by freshman Jake Ball (Cadillac).

The baseball team split a pair of eight inning, one-run decisions against Trine (Ind.) University this afternoon at Jannen Field in Angola, Ind. The Comets won the first game 3-2 before losing the second game 6-5.

The baseball team split a non-conference doubleheader with Rochester College this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. After dropping the first game 2-1, the Comets rebounded to win the second game, 6-2.

The baseball team split a MIAA doubleheader with Alma College today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. Alma won the first game 5-1. Behind a complete game, three-hitter by junior Sean Alexander (Fenton), the Comets won the nightcap, 1-0.

The baseball team rallied to tie the game or take the lead in both games of a MIAA doubleheader before Calvin College scored late in each one to beat the Comets, 7-5 and 4-2, today at Calvin Field in Grand Rapids.

The baseball team split a home doubleheader with MIAA rival Albion College this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. Behind a complete game pitching performance by Jay Magro, the Comets won the first game, 1-0, in 10 innings. The Britons bounced back to win the nightcap, 3-1.

The Olivet College baseball team was shutout, 6-0 and 5-0, in both games of a MIAA doubleheader against Adrian College this afternoon at Nicolay Field in Adrian. The teams will complete the four-game league series tomorrow with a doubleheader in Olivet, starting at 1 p.m.

The baseball team swept a MIAA doubleheader from Kalamazoo College this afternoon on a cold, blustery day at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. The Comets withstood a Hornet comeback to win the opener, 9-6, and then won the nightcap, 6-3.
