Bio
His contributions to Olivet College athletics gave the Comets a new
spirit following the second world war. He earned three varsity
letters in football, four in basketball, and four in baseball. His
list of individual achievements is long. In baseball alone he
started four straight years at third baseball, led the team in
hitting for all of those four years, had a batting average of .468
his senior year, and had the most singles, doubles, triples, home
runs and stolen bases. In basketball he started four years at guard
and in football he started three years at left halfback and made
the Third All-State Team for Colleges his senior year.
After graduation, he turned his attention to coaching, first at
Olivet College, and then at several area high schools in both
men’s and women’s sports. He also found time for
community service.
In recognition of an exceptional record of leadership,
achievement, and service, Olivet College is proud to honor him with
induction into the Athletic Hall of Fame.
