Bio
Since joining the Olivet faculty as Biology Professor in 1950, he
has been known as the “Number One Fan” of Comet
men’s and women’s athletic teams. In 1973, he received
an “O” letter jacket for his strong support of Comet
teams. His unique yell, “Fight Fiercely,” can be heard
wherever Olivet athletes take the floor or field.
He has coached the Comet tennis team, and is currently serving as
Olivet faculty representative to the Michigan Intercollegiate
Athletic Association and to the National Collegiate Athletic
Association.
Distinguished in many fields, he is an active lay speaker in
churches, a Danforth Associate, recipient of two Olivet College
Presidential Citations, skillful teacher, devoted parent, and the
world’s greatest authority on the Central Johnny Darter.
Olivet is proud to honor him for his significant and lasting
contributions not only to Comet athletics, but to many other facets
of campus life.
