Bio

You came to Olivet in 1967 with the enthusiasm and dedication to create winning teams. Twenty-seven years later, and serving under five presidents, you have a legacy of winning basketball, baseball and golf teams. Your dedication to the sports you love is evidenced in leading the basketball team to an MIAA championship win in 1970-71 -- the first team title for Olivet since 1914. Titles also followed the next two years. For twenty-one years you have distinguished yourself as an successful golf team coach and have guided Olivet to win a record 12 MIAA championships team titles. As a baseball coach, the 1980-81 season was a rich one for you and the team, sharing the MIAA championship title with Albion College.

You have always demonstrated the importance of education for both yourself and student athletes. You excelled at Lakeview High School in Battle Creek, earning four letters in basketball, three in baseball and three in track. Kalamazoo College attracted you, where you majored in economics and minored in physical education. In 1965 you earned a master’s degree in secondary education from Western Michigan University. Your commitment to Olivet College athletics and academics is tireless: you served as athletic director for five years; you devoted countless hours to recruiting stellar student athletes; you are a professor in the physical education and education departments; and you support the football team as public address announcer.

For your drive and dedication, skill and competence, it is on this 16th day of October, 1994, that we honor you by inducting you into the Olivet College Athletic Hall of Fame. Congratulations!
