Bio
A spirit of winning and achieving was a trait Al Milankov had as a
student at Olivet College. In 1932 he was the captain of an
undefeated conference champion basketball team. The
5’8” 148-pounder scored 500 points himself in the Comet
march to victory. He was the conference’s leading scorer and
was selected for the All-League team that year as a guard. In 1933,
he switched to forward and also earned All-League honors.
Milankov’s teammates said he had an “uncanny
eye” and performed best under pressure. He was the man who
got the ball when the Comets needed two.
Milankov’s favorite sport was basketball, but he also played
two years of football for the Comet red and white. He participated
in a number of all-college activities and was a member of the Phi
Alpha Pi fraternity.
To recognize his leadership and skill, Olivet College has inducted
him into the Athletic Hall of Fame.
