Bio
You served as Olivet’s head football coach for five seasons from 1971 to 1975 and compiled a 23-20-1 overall record. You led Olivet to the 1974 MIAA Championship with a perfect 5-0 record. At that time, it was the only undefeated MIAA season in school history and the first Olivet team to win a MIAA football title in 60 years. You coached 14 players who earned 23 total All-MIAA awards. Eleven earned this honor in 1974, including Tim E. Baker, the MIAA’s Most Valuable Player.
Your successful career at Olivet propelled you into an impressive NCAA and professional coaching career. At the NCAA level, you coached at San Jose State University, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and University of Hawaii. Professionally, you worked for the New Orleans Breakers and Tampa Bay Bandits in the United States Football League, as well as Albany Firebirds, Arizona Rattlers, Carolina Cobras, Charlotte Rage, Columbus Destroyers, Los Angeles Avengers and Tampa Bay Storm in the Arena Football League.
You served your country in the United States Army from 1954-56. You earned a bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University in 1961 and master’s degree from Western Illinois University in 1966.
Olivet honors you and is proud to induct you into The University of Olivet Athletic Hall of Fame on this 4th day of October, 2024.
