Bio
During your college career you accomplished the monumental task of
lettering in four sports. You lettered in field hockey, basketball,
and softball for three years and volleyball for one year. You were
a valuable member of the 1980 M.IA.A. Co-Championship softball
team. Your hard work and leadership as a team member was rewarded
when you were named Most Improved Player and Team Captain in field
hockey.
You were an excellent and involved student. You were a member of
the Sigma Beta Sorority, serving as House Manager and as President.
You were elected to two honor societies, Omicron Delta Kapp, and
Psi Chi. You work as a student was rewarded when you received the
Debra Tighe Memorial Award and when you were listed in Who’s
Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
Since leaving Olivet you have continued your education by
completing your Master of Arts degree from Western Michigan
University. You have distinguished yourself in your career as a
health/physical education teacher and coach at Marshall High
School. You have served your community through your work with the
Marshall Parks and Recreation Department, P.O.W.E.R. for Kids, and
by serving as a HIV/AIDS Instructor.
You have been widely recognized for your work as a registered
Michigan High School Athletic Association official. You have
officiated three State Volleyball Finals and two State Softball
Finals. As a registered Amateur Softball Association umpire you
have officiated five national tournaments. You are a member and
past president of the South Central Officials Association. Your
involvement in the Women in Sports Conference and as a guest
lecturer at various conferences has helped advance the role of
women’s athletics in Michigan.
Because of your outstanding abilities as an athlete, as a student,
and as an official it is with great pride that this 1st day of
November, 1997, we induct you into the Olivet College Athletic Hall
of Fame.
