Bio
You came to Olivet to major in chemistry and excelled in the
classroom as well as in track and field. Because of leadership
qualities, you were chosen captain of the track team in 1972.
In that first year you established track records in: the 110 meter
hurdles, 120 yard high hurdles, 400 meter, 440 yard intermediate
hurdles, the 800 meter run, the mile relay and 440 yard relay. You
received the distinct honor of attending NCAA Division III
Nationals in 1971 and 1972 to compete in the 110 meter high hurdles
and the 400 meter intermediate hurdles. All-MIAA honors were given
to you in 1971 for placing first in the 440 yards hurdles and
relay, and second place in the 120 yard hurdles. To this your
athletic excellence remains deep in the memory of many as your
outstanding records still stand at Olivet in the following areas:
the 110 meter hurdles, 120 high hurdles, the 400 meter hurdles and
440 intermediate hurdles.
You were chosen in 1971 to the All-MIAA Track Team. You also set
the MIAA record in 1971 for the 440 yard intermediate hurdles. In
1972 you again took first place in the 440 yard hurdles, first
place in the 120 yard high hurdles, first place in the 440, and
second place in the mile relay. You set the MIAA record in 1972 for
the 120 yard high hurdles. In 1972 you were chosen to the All-MIAA
team and as the MIAA’s Most Valuable Player of the Year.
Your ambition and disciplined spirit led you to become a
pharmacist, and you are now practicing at the University Hospital
in Charlotte, North Carolina.
It is with great honor and pride that on this 10th day of
September, 1993, we formally induct you into the Olivet College
Athletic Hall of Fame. Congratulations!
