Bio
While a student at Olivet College you participated in football and
wrestling. Your talent as a wrestler was outstanding. Lettering in
wrestling all four years you were a valuable member of three
M.I.A.A. Championship teams in 1974, 1975 and 1977. You were
someone your teammates looked up to with great respect for your
hard work and determination.
Your abilities as an exceptional athlete were reflected in your
record of 96 wins, 24 losses, and 39 pins. Your talent was honored
when you received the Team Contribution Award in 1977. You were
also named All-M.I.A.A. in 1977 and runner-up in 1976. In 1974 you
were named to the prestigious Amateur Wrestling News All-American
Team.
After graduating from Olivet College in 1977 with a Bachelor of
Arts degree in biology you began work as an ironworker. For 13
years you have been with the Barton Rigging Company where your
diligence has promoted you to the position of rigging foreman. For
twenty years you have been an active member of the
Ironwoker’s Local 25.
You are a devoted family man. Together with your wife Cynthia, you
are raising three sons, Paul, Steven and David J. In your spare
time you are a boating enthusiast and an active member of the
United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. Your service to your
children’s school and to area youth is commendable. As a
coach in the Youth Sports Program at Saint Pius Elementary School
you are helping to prepare future athletes for participation in
soccer, basketball and baseball.
Because of your outstanding abilities as a student athlete it is
with great pride that this 1st day of November, 1997, we induct you
into the Olivet College Athletic Hall of Fame.
