Bio

As a freshman, you played on the Olivet College football team. After suffering a career-ending shoulder injury, you helped coach the freshmen team and the varsity backfield for two years. You also competed in track and field at Olivet. After graduating from Olivet, you received a master’s degree from the University of Michigan in 1977.

You were an assistant football coach at Detroit Central High School for two years. You were also an assistant football coach at Detroit Mackenzie High School for two years before being promoted to head football coach, a position that you held for 25 years. You faithfully served Mackenzie for 33 years as a teacher, coach and athletic director until retiring after the 2001-02 school year. While at Mackenzie, you coached 15 high school All-Americans along with eight players who went on to participate in the NFL.

You frequently speak at some of the most prestigious colleges across the state and the U.S. You also hold memberships in the Michigan Football Coaches Association, National Football Coaches Association and Omega Psi Phi fraternity. In 1993, you were inducted into the Michigan High School Coaches Hall of Fame.

Olivet honors you as a winner and is proud to induct you into the Olivet College Hall of Fame on this 5th day of September, 2003.
