Bio

You earned three letters in cross country and four letters in track at Olivet. In track, you were a four-time All-MIAA selection, including the league’s Most Valuable Performer in 1976. You won MIAA championships in the 440-yard dash in 1973, 1974 and 1976, and the 880-yard run in 1975. You were also a part of the conference champion mile relay in 1973 and 1976. You still hold the MIAA record in all three events.

In addition, you finished in seventh-place in the 400-meter run at the 1976 NCAA Division III National Championships. You hold the school record in 400- and 800-meter runs at 48.00 and 1:53.24, respectively. You were a tri-captain on the track and field teams in 1975 and 1976. During your four-year collegiate career, you never lost a race in 24 dual meets and all four conference championship meets.

After graduating from Olivet, you moved to Miami University, where you were a graduate assistant in the health and physical education department and volunteer coach with the men’s track and cross country programs. While there, you earned a master’s degree in 1977. You then served as head women’s cross country/track and field coach at Hillsdale College (1977-78), head women’s track and field/head men’s and women’s cross country coach at University of Nebraska-Omaha (1978-87), assistant men’s cross country/track and field coach at Miami (1987-93) and head men’s and women’s cross country/track and field coach at Gettysburg (Pa.) College (1993-2004). While at Gettysburg, you were named the 2002 NCAA Division III Mideast Region Track and Field Coach of the Year and were a finalist for national coach of the year

In 2003, you became owner of Mason-Dixon Properties, LLC. You were also owner of Molly Maid Residential Cleaning Service from 2004-06. In 2006, you added the title reverse mortgage specialist at M&T Bank to your duties.

Olivet honors you and is proud to induct you into the Olivet College Athletic Hall of Fame this 28th day of October, 2011.
