Bio
Affectionately known to his team-mates as “Crusher,”
he started in all 36 intercollegiate football games at Olivet for
the years 1957, 1958, 1959 and 1961. His versatility was
exceptional and his style of play rigorous. He played offensive and
defensive tackle, linebacker, end, guard, fullback and punter. In a
period when victories were sparse for Olivet, his play brought him
honorable mention on the MIAA all-conference teams in 1957, 1959
and 1961. He was elected captain twice, and in 1961 was among the
leading rushers in the MIAA. He also played baseball and won
honorable mention in the MIAA as a catcher.
On the campus, he was vice president of the student council,
member of the “O” club and member of the Adelphic Alpha
Pi fraternity.
After graduation, he coached six and a half years at Central
Montcalm, four years at Battle Creek Pennfield and four and a half
years at Olivet High School.
In 1977, he returned to Olivet College to become head football
coach.
In honor of his many accomplishments on and off the athletic
field, Olivet College is happy to induct him into the Athletic Hall
of Fame.
