Bio

Led by head coach Doug Kay and assistant coaches John Grimes and Dave Parkhurst, the 1974 Olivet College football team won an outright MIAA title with a 5-0 record versus conference teams. The team finished the year with a 7-2 overall record.

Running back Tim E. Baker was named the MIAA’s Most Valuable Player, and 10 additional players -- Bob Bacon, Tim A. Baker, Eric Boucher (captain), Dave Burland (captain), Jim Chapin, Rick Corser, Jim Crocker, Ken Nowaske, Rick Smith (captain) and Bill Ziem -- joined him in earning first-team All-MIAA honors.

Remaining members of the team were Tom Barbieri, Ron Barnhart, Dave Bauer, Gary Blackburn, Dennis Blanchard, Mike Buth, Mike Caro, Jim Cherven, Robert Christman, Tom Creighton, Mark Dabiero, Damon Davis, Mike Dieterle, Dave Dorsey, Herb Doster, Gary Fant, Bill Gira, Ed Guisbert, Jim Hnatow, Chuck Hoge, Dave Jiles, Mark Jones, Rick Kesteloot, Paul Kies, Russell Larimer, Larry Lethorn, John Lomacz, Rob Luther, Mike Maitner, Kevin Martin, Jeff McIver, Mark Millis, Frank Mohacsi, Greg Morrison, Dave Okoniewski, Maurice Omaits, Mike Parsons, Dave Phillips, Dave Poole, Mark Przybylo, Aaron Ruehle, Walt Schalau, Tony Schiebold, Marvin Selge, Lyle Sheroski, Steve Sobczyk, Dan Sohaskey, Jim Stevens, Al Taylor, Bruce Tichenor, Phil Treais, Paul Van Gessel, Garrison Wall, Jack Wallace, Fred Waybrant, Jim Wheeler, Mike Williamson, Dave Winkler, Jayme Wollison, Bruce Wood and Bob Young. Student managers were Bob Condon, Dennis Horal and Kevin Markovich. Athletic trainers were Steve Hassenger and John Trerice. Student coaches were James Kuerth and Joseph Meyers.

Olivet honors this team and is proud to induct it into the Olivet College Athletic Hall of Fame this 7th day of October, 2016.
