HOLLAND, Mich. – The Olivet College women's lacrosse team began Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play with a 24-1 loss to Hope College this afternoon at Van Andel Stadium in Holland.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Flying Dutch built a 17-0 halftime lead after out-shooting the Comets 27-1 in the opening 30 minutes of play.
  • Hope added to its lead with six goals to start the second half.
  • Senior Krystin Verran scored Olivet's goal with 4:55 left in the game.
  • The Flying Dutch capped the game's scoring with 1:41 showing on the clock.

FOR THE COMETS

  • Junior Sabrina Butler had two of three Olivet shots. She also picked-up a team-high four ground balls.
  • Butler, Verran and senior Katie Ordiway each won two draw controls.
  • Senior Keri Hettinger played the entire game in the cage and collected 15 saves.

FOR THE FLYING DUTCH

  • Paige Wilmer topped the team with six points on three goals and three assists.
  • Rachel Elder led all players with five goals and seven shots.
  • Jane Ragains finished with four points on three goals and one assist.
  • Carly Pieri and Megan Ready each had two goals and two assists for four points.
  • Laurel Frederickson was the winning keeper.
