Women’s lacrosse team begins MIAA play with 24-1 loss at Hope

HOLLAND, Mich. – The Olivet College women's lacrosse team began Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play with a 24-1 loss to Hope College this afternoon at Van Andel Stadium in Holland.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Flying Dutch built a 17-0 halftime lead after out-shooting the Comets 27-1 in the opening 30 minutes of play.
- Hope added to its lead with six goals to start the second half.
- Senior Krystin Verran scored Olivet's goal with 4:55 left in the game.
- The Flying Dutch capped the game's scoring with 1:41 showing on the clock.
FOR THE COMETS
- Junior Sabrina Butler had two of three Olivet shots. She also picked-up a team-high four ground balls.
- Butler, Verran and senior Katie Ordiway each won two draw controls.
- Senior Keri Hettinger played the entire game in the cage and collected 15 saves.
FOR THE FLYING DUTCH
- Paige Wilmer topped the team with six points on three goals and three assists.
- Rachel Elder led all players with five goals and seven shots.
- Jane Ragains finished with four points on three goals and one assist.
- Carly Pieri and Megan Ready each had two goals and two assists for four points.
- Laurel Frederickson was the winning keeper.
