Men’s Tennis: Olivet wins 5-4 thriller over Manchester

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The University of Olivet men's tennis team came from behind to beat non-conference foe Manchester (Ind.) University, 5-4, today inside the Minges Creek Athletic Club.
- Final Score: Olivet 5, Manchester 4
- Location: Minges Creek Athletic Club; Battle Creek, Michigan
- Records: Olivet 1-3 overall, Manchester 0-5 overall
- The Spartans won the first two doubles flights to go up 2-0. Olivet needed a tiebreaker for a win at No. 1 doubles.
- Manchester picked-up the first singles point with a win the No. 6 slot. The Comets evened the team with victories at No. 4 and No. 2 singles. The Spartans went back ahead with a straight set win at No. 5 singles.
- Olivet kept its chance alive by eking out a three-set win at No. 2 singles. Down to the last match on the court and the team score deadlocked at 4-4, the Comets won at No. 1 singles to win the match.
- In doubles, freshman Lucas Anderson and senior Trevor Lewis earned Olivet's point, winning the tiebreaker, 7-5, for an 8-7 win.
- Freshman Josh Moore posted the 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles.
- Freshman Alex Jonas won his two sets by identical 6-4 scores.
- At No. 2 singles, Lewis lost his first set, 6-2, but rebounded to win the second set, 6-3. In the match tiebreaker, he claimed a 10-6 win.
- At No. 1 singles, Anderson cruised to 6-1, 6-2 victory.
- Olivet is on the road to play Franklin (Ind.) College next Saturday, March 2, at 1 p.m.
