#KnowYourComet: Griffin Hammond
With only a few athletic teams competing this fall, we knew the Olivet College fans are going to miss sports just as much as our student-athletes, coaches and athletic staff. We are hoping to fill that void by having some special content on our website throughout the semester. On Wednesdays, you will get to #KnowYourComet through some questions and answers with a current Olivet College student-athlete. |
Question 1: What is your name?
Answer 1: Griffin Hammond
Q2: What sport(s) do you play at Olivet?
A2: Men's Soccer
Q3: Have you earned any athletic honors at Olivet?
A3: I have twice received the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award.
Q4: What is favorite Olivet athletic-related memory?
A4: As of right now, I believe my favorite athletic-related memory at Olivet is from my junior year game against Adrian College on Homecoming weekend. With some bad weather the days leading up to the game on Saturday, our game was pushed back to Sunday and was going to be played at Olivet high school. This caused some mixed emotions throughout our team and several conflicts arose from it. However, we pushed these passed these issues and came out with a tough 1-0 win over a regionally-ranked Adrian College team at the time.
Q5: What is your major at Olivet?
A5: Business Administration with a Management Concentration.
Q6: What is your favorite non-athletic memory from your time at Olivet?
A6: My favorite non-athletic memory from Olivet must be all the connections and friendships that I have created. The group of friends I have made and found I will cherish for the rest of my life.
Q7: Are you involved in anything else at Olivet?
A7: Besides from the soccer team, I am currently the President of Phi Beta Lambda, the business departments organizations. I am a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and I have taken part in Team Impact as well.
Q8: Why did you decide to come to Olivet?
A8: I originally decided to come to Olivet solely to play soccer, I never thought I was going to be granted that opportunity. However, I quickly relived that I made a great choice in coming to Olivet because of the size and family feel between everyone that I have met and encountered on campus.
Q9: What did you during your time away from Olivet (from last March to moving back in August)?
A9: After the stay-at-home order, I went back to work, working close to forty hours a week. On any of my days off, I was relaxing at home with my newly adopted dog or out enjoying the nice days on my kayak.
Q10: What did you binge watch on Netflix/TV while in the stay-at-home order?
A10: As I feel many others did, during the stay-at-home order I binge watched the Tiger King and got through that in a few days. After finishing that, I went on to watch a Netflix series called Fastest Car and Outer Banks.
Q11: What is one interesting fact about yourself that most people don't know?
A11: One interesting fact that most people do not know about myself is that I have small hole, probably the size of a needle point, on my right ear and it matches almost identical to my dad's ear.
Q12: Do you have any relatives who graduated from Olivet? If yes, who?
A12: I do not have any relatives who graduated or attended Olivet.
