Cross country teams finish third at Calvin Championships
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College men’s and women’s cross country teams ran this morning at the Calvin University Championships, and both teams placed third at the Gainey Athletic Complex in Grand Rapids. The races featured the host Knights, the Comets and Adrian College. The Calvin women’s triathlon team also participated.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's cross country teams ran this morning at the Calvin University Championships, and both teams placed third at the Gainey Athletic Complex in Grand Rapids. The races featured the host Knights, the Comets and Adrian College. The Calvin women's triathlon team also participated.

- Olivet recorded 75 points. The first 11 women's runners to finish were from Calvin to give the Knights a perfect 15 score.
- Freshman Anastasia Sanchez placed 12th, completing the 6K course in 24:38.53.
- Sophomore Savannah Baker ran the race in a career-best time of 26:39.80.
- Junior Kaylee Richardson posted a time of 27:19.01.
- Freshman Tonya Tepin was not far behind in 27:25.46.
- The Comets totaled 63 points, which was six more than second-place Adrian. Calvin won the team title with 17 points.
- Freshman Cameron Smith paced Olivet with an eighth-place finishing time of 26:31.77 on the 8K course.
- Freshman Hayden Germain was 15th with a time of 27:37.63.
- Junior Kyle McDowell finished 23rd with a time of 28:04.28.
- Sophomore Chase Mendham, senior Jaden Costa and freshman Hunter Hillard were the next Comets to cross the finish line, recording times of 28:34.19, 28:42.12 and 28:46.20, respectively.
- Today's meet marked the end of the 2020 cross country season. An indoor and outdoor track & field schedule for Olivet is being put together right now. Once it is finalized, it will be posted on our website, www.olivetcomets.com.
