Freshmen help cross country teams finish second at home invitational
CHARLOTTE, Mich. – The Olivet College men’s and women’s cross country teams opened the 2020 season by hosting the Olivet College Invitational at nearby Broadway Acres Golf Course in nearby Charlotte. The meet featured the Comets along with Calvin University for both genders and only the Adrian men.

CHARLOTTE, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2020 season by hosting the Olivet College Invitational at nearby Broadway Acres Golf Course in nearby Charlotte. The meet featured the Comets along with Calvin University for both genders and only the Adrian men.
Location: Broadway Acres Golf Course; Charlotte, Mich.
- Olivet totaled 61 points to edge Adrian College by three points. Calvin was first with 15 points.
- The Comets' top finisher was freshman Hayden Germain, as he placed ninth of 42 runners and covered the 8K course in 26:18.
- Next was freshman Cameron Smith who finished 13th with a time of 26:49.
- Junior Kyle McDowell had a time of 27:47.
- Sophomore Chase Mendham ran the race in 28:58.
- Freshman Hunter Hillard completed the run in 29:18.
- Olivet had 50 points. Calvin was first with 15 points.
- Freshman Anastasia Sanchez was the first Comet to cross the finish line, as she ran the 5K course in 20:36.
- Junior Kaylee Richardson was next at 21:58.
- Senior Morgan Greenman finished in 22:10.
- Freshman Tonya Tepin had a time of 22:16.
- Olivet is off until Saturday, October 3, when it competes at the Calvin College Invitational inside the Gainey Athletic Complex in Grand Rapids. The men's race starts at 11 a.m., followed by the women's race at 12 p.m.
