Cross country teams begin season at Jackson Community College Invitational
The Olivet College cross country teams opened their seasons today by running at the Jackson Community College Invitational. Five schools – the host Jets, Lansing Community College (LCC), Mott Community College, Olivet and Trine (Ind.) University – participated in the meet. LCC took first-place in the men’s and women’s races.

The Olivet women were led by a two freshmen and a sophomore. Leading the way was freshman Brittany Marshall (Canton, Ga./Woodstock), who placed 12th and covered the 5K course in 22:20, followed by freshman Jordan Ovadek (Grand Blanc/Flint Powers Catholic) in 22nd-place (23:47) and sophomore Katie Yahrmarkt (Sparta) in 24th-place (23:49). Courtney Osborn placed 28th (25:33) and junior Christine Cameron (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) placed 35th (28:56).
Senior Thomas Ray (Constantine) paced the Olivet men on the 8K course, finishing in 21st-place and covering the course in 30:02.
The Comets are back in action Saturday, Sept. 20, when they participate in the Calvin College Invitational.
