Cross country teams run at Wisc.-Parkside Invitational
The Olivet College men’s and women’s cross country teams ran today at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Invitational held at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisc.
The Olivet College men's and women's cross country teams ran today at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Invitational held at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisc.
The men's team was 13th of 15 teams with 199 runners. Freshman Thomas Ray (Constantine) led the Comets, finishing the 8K race in 28:06. Freshman Justin Todd (Climax-Scotts) was next with a time of 29:04, followed by junior Derrick Bean (Quincy) in 29:35 and freshman Robert Moss (Bellevue/Olivet) in 30:09. Senior Mauricio Palli (Bloomingdale, Ill./Glenbard Twp.) and freshman Matt Lusher (Carsonville/Port Sanilac) rounded out the Olivet men with times of 33:07 and 34:14, respectively.
The women's team placed 16th of 18 teams with 224 runners. Senior Andrea Szokola (Marlette) completed the 5K race in 20:25 to lead the Comets. Junior Stephanie Pierce (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) finished in 21:57 while senior Stephanie Green (Leroy/Pine River) and freshman Kayleigh Hamilton (Hudsonville) were two seconds apart with times of 22:37 and 22:39, respectively. Freshman Jessica Woods (Climax-Scotts) was the last Olivet runner in 23:21.
The Comets are idle Saturday, Oct. 29, when they compete at the 2005 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships. Kalamazoo College is the host school.
