Cross country teams compete at MIAA Jamboree
The Olivet College men’s and women’s cross country teams competed today at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree, which was hosted by Calvin College. The women’s team finished in sixth-place (out of nine teams) while the men’s team was seventh (out of eight teams).

The women's team finished in sixth-place (out of nine teams) while the men's team was seventh (out of eight teams). Calvin College was first for both men and women.
On the women's side, senior Andrea Szokola (Marlette) finished the 5K race in 19:57 to place her 22nd overall. Following her was freshman Kayleigh Hamilton (Hudsonville) in 20:16 and senior Stephanie Green (Leroy/Pine River) in 20:39.
The other Comet runners were freshman Tera Bean (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) at 21:26, junior Stephanie Pierce (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) at 21:58, senior Rachel Strelecki (Stanford/Standish-Sterling) at 22:15 and freshman Jessica Woods (Climax-Scotts) at 22:47.
Freshman Thomas Ray (Constantine) completed the 8K run in 27:41 to lead the Olivet men. Freshman Robert Moss (Olivet) was next at 28:24, followed by junior Derrick Bean (Quincy) at 29:33, senior Mauricio Palli (Bloomingdale, Ill./Glenbard Twp.) at 32:46, freshman Matt Lusher (Carsonville/Port Sanilac) at 33:30 and sophomore Aaron Stewart (Dansville) at 34:17.
Olivet next competes at the Lansing Community College Meet Saturday, Oct. 1. The event is being contested at Grand Woods Park in Lansing.
