Olivet drops three-set match to Calvin

OLIVET, Mich. –The University of Olivet women's volleyball team was defeated by Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Calvin University in three sets tonight inside the Cutler Event Center.
THE BASICS
- Final Score: Calvin defeated Olivet 25-9, 25-18, 25-12

- Records: Olivet 13-12 overall, 1-6 MIAA; Calvin 17-8 overall, 6-1 MIAA
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights scored the first 11 points of the opening set and did not relinquish the lead for the remainder of the set.
- At the start of the second set, Calvin led by three points, 6-3. The Comets closed the gap to a single point on two occasions, 6-5 and 7-6. The Knights extended their advantage to as many as nine points, 23-14. Olivet put the next four points on the scoreboard before Calvin scored the final two points to win the set, 25-18.
- The Knights opened the third set with an 11-3 lead. The Comets trimmed their deficit down to five points twice. After the second time at 15-10, Calvin ended the set by scoring 10 of the final 12 points to win it, 25-12.
- For the match, the Knights had 38 kills to only 18 for Olivet.
FOR THE COMETS
- Senior Abi Nunez led Olivet with seven kills.
- Sophomore Julia Hall and junior Isabella Wagasy each had three kills.
- Senior Teagan Giannunzio recorded 13 set assists.
- Junior Jaydn Cary finished with a team-leading 15 digs.

- The Comets close out the 2024 season Saturday when they travel to play Saint Mary's (Ind.) College, starting at 1 p.m.
