Olivet denied by Trine in three sets

ANGOLA, Ind. –The University of Olivet women's volleyball team lost in three sets to Trine (Ind.) University in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) match this afternoon at Hershey Hall.
THE BASICS
- Final Score: Trine defeated Olivet 27-25, 25-13, 25-23

- Records: Olivet 13-11 overall, 1-5 MIAA; Trine 20-4 overall, 4-2 MIAA
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first set, the Thunder built a three-point lead, 11-8. The Comets chipped away at their deficit and eventually took a 16-15 lead. Olivet extended its lead to three points, 24-21. Trine answered with four straight points to go up 25-24. A service error leveled the score before a Thunder kill and ace ended the set in their favor.
- Trine scored the first four points of the second set and never looked back.
- The Thunder held a 12-8 lead in the third set. Olivet fought back to take a 20-18 lead. Three straight Comet attack errors gave the lead back to Trine, 21-20. Olivet tied the score at 21-21 and went ahead 23-22 before the Thunder scored the final three points to win the set, 25-22.
FOR THE COMETS
- Senior Abi Nunez slammed down a team-best 11 kills, followed by senior Hayleah McFadden with 10.
- Senior Teagan Giannunzio dished out 32 set assists.
- Junior Jaydn Cary recorded a team-high 15 digs.
