Olivet defeats Hilbert in three sets

BLUFFTON, Ohio – The University of Olivet women's volleyball team beat Hilbert (N.Y.) College in three sets tonight in its first match at the Bluffton University Sommer Center Spiketacular.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a 4-4 tie in the first set, Olivet used a 9-1 run to take control of the set and go up 13-5. In the second set, the Comets led by seven points on several occasions. The Hawks trimmed their deficit down to three points before Olivet used a late surge to win the set. Hilbert held an early two-point lead in the third set. Down 7-6, the Comets scored the next three points and did not give up the lead for the rest of the set.
FOR THE COMETS
- Senior Abi Nunez slammed down a match-best 18 kills.
- Senior Hayleah McFadden was next with 11 kills.
- Senior Madison Johnson dished out 14 set assists, followed by sophomore Grace Grew with 12.
- Freshman Ashlynn Giannunzio contributed 20 digs, followed by junior Jadyn Cary with 19.
UP NEXT
- The continue play tomorrow morning at the Sommer Center Spiketacular. Olivet faces Wilmington (Ohio) College at 10 a.m., followed by a match against Penn State University-Behrend (Pa.).
