Women’s Volleyball: Olivet falls in three sets at Albion

ALBION, Mich. –The University of Olivet women's volleyball team was defeated by Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College in three close sets this evening at the Kresge Gymnasium. The Britons won by scores of 25-20, 25-22 and 25-23.

- In the first set, the Britons built a four-point lead at 14-10. The Comets chipped away at their deficit and eventually leveled the score at 16-16. Albion went on a 4-0 run to start a 9-4 spurt to win the set by a 25-20 score.
- Trailing 3-2 in the second set, Olivet scored four straight points, including two aces by junior Maddie Reynolds made the score 6-3. The Britons scored four of the next five points to tie the score at 7-7. Albion came back with a 6-4 run for a three-point cushion, 14-11. The teams traded 5-2 spurts to keep the score at a three-point differential, 21-18. The Comets came back with a 3-0 run to even the score before a 4-1 Briton run ended the set in their favor, 25-22.
- The Comets led by four points, 12-8, in the third set. Albion came back with an 8-2 run to seize a 16-14 advantage. Olivet fought back with a 6-4 spurt to make the score 20-20. The Comets then put the next two points on the scoreboard to go up 22-20. Olivet went ahead by two points one more time at 23-21 before the Britons closed the set on a 4-0 run to win the set, 25-21 and match in three sets.
- Senior Morgan Dillon slammed down a team-best 10 kills and posted a .318 attack percentage.
- Senior Olivia DuFore finished with nine kills, followed by junior Hayleah McFadden with eight.
- Junior Teagan Giannunzio recorded 30 set assists.
- Sophomore Jaydn Cary notched a match-high 17 digs.
- Reynolds tallied three service aces.
- The Comets face Kalamazoo College Friday night at the Anderson Athletic Center in Kalamazoo, starting at 7 p.m.
