Women’s volleyball team tripped up by Manchester in three sets
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women’s volleyball team was on the losing end of a three-set match to Manchester (Ind.) University in a non-conference match tonight at the Cutler Event Center.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's volleyball team was on the losing end of a three-set match to Manchester (Ind.) University in a non-conference match tonight at the Cutler Event Center.

- In the first set, the Spartans raced out to a 5-0 lead before pushing their lead to as many as eight points at 13-5. Behind the service of junior Emily Keeler, the Comets battled back to close the gap to two points, 13-11. Manchester answered with three straight points and its lead would stay at least four points for the rest of the set.
- In the second set, the Spartans went ahead by two points, 10-8. Senior Logan Allen stepped to the service line and helped Olivet go on a 6-0 run for a 14-10 lead. Manchester chipped away at its deficit and made it a one-point game, 17-16. The Comets used two kills and two Spartan attack errors to push their lead back to five points, 21-15. The teams traded 2-0 spurts to make the score 23-18. A 5-0 Manchester run leveled the score at 23-23. Olivet got to set point twice but each time the Spartans tied the score. After the last tie at 25-25, Manchester slammed down back-to-back kills to end the set.
- The Comets scored the first point of the third set. The Spartans scored the next seven points for a 7-1 lead. Manchester eventually led by 11 points, 24-13. Olivet saved off six match points to make the score 24-19. A Spartan kill concluded the set and match.
- Senior Ellie Louiselle led all players with 13 kills and .346 attack percentage.
- Junior Morgan Dillon had six kills and four aces.
- Allen tallied four blocks – one solo and three assisted.
- Senior Kennedy Blackburn recorded 26 set assists.
- Senior Jill Arends finished with a match-high 16 digs.
- Joy Maze had a team-best 10 kills.
- Jessica Tarr dished out 26 set assists.
- Helaina Walters registered 12 digs.
- The Comets participate in the Bluffton (Ohio) University Beaver Fall Classic Saturday. Olivet faces Rochester University at 11 a.m., followed by a match against the host Beavers at approximately 1:30 p.m.
