Women’s volleyball team defeated by Wilmington and Wheaton
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women’s volleyball team fell to both Wilmington (Ohio) College and Wheaton (Ill.) College in three sets today in the second day of the Olivet-Albion Tournament inside the Cutler Event Center.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's volleyball team fell to both Wilmington (Ohio) College and Wheaton (Ill.) College in three sets today in the second day of the Olivet-Albion Tournament inside the Cutler Event Center.
- Final Score: Wilmington defeated Olivet 25-13, 25-19, 25-17
- Location: Cutler Event Center; Olivet, Michigan
- Records: Olivet 2-8 overall, Wilmington 4-10 overall
- The teams traded the first 10 points, resulting in four tied scores (2-2, 3-3, 4-4 and 5-5). Olivet went ahead 7-5 before three Quaker kills handed them the lead. The Comets took advantage of three Wilmington miscues to go ahead 10-8. The Quakers answered with a 6-0 run for a 14-10 lead. That run started a larger run, 17-3, to end the set.
- Besides a 1-1 tie, Wilmington held the lead for the entire second set.
- The Quakers opened with a 6-4 advantage in the third set. Three Comet kills and a Wilmington attack error gave the lead back to Olivet. The Quakers came back with five consecutive points for an 11-8 lead. The Comets scored the next point but would not get any closer for the remainder of the set.
- Junior Morgan Dillon topped all players with eight kills, followed by freshman Violet Porter with six.
- Porter had just one attack error on nine attempts for a .556 attack percentage.
- Senior Kennedy Blackburn recorded 25 set assists.
- Senior Jill Arends and junior Emily Keeler each had eight digs.
- Joy Bebe and Sydney Giebel each posted a team-best seven kills.
- Andie Dolven dished out 26 set assists.
- Blake O'Brien led all players with 15 digs.
- Final Score: Wheaton defeated Olivet 25-18, 25-15, 25-7

- In the opening set, the Comets built a four-point advantage, 6-2. Five consecutive points handed the Thunder their first lead. The teams exchanged points to create three deadlocks at 8-8, 9-9 and 10-10. Wheaton scored the next three points and did not relinquish the lead for the rest of the set.
- In the second set, the Thunder raced out to a 6-0 lead and never looked back. Wheaton's largest lead in the set was 11 points.
- The Thunder had a wire-to-wire lead in the third set.
- Dillon had four of the 12 Olivet kills.
- Blackburn dished out 12 assists.
- Arends recorded a team-best five digs.
- Caroline Capps tallied eight kills.
- Davis Whitehead registered 24 set assists.
- Grace Autry topped all players with 14 digs.
- As a team, Wheaton had 16 service aces. Emerson Traweek led the way with six, followed by Whitehead with five.
- The Comets open Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play next Tuesday, September 20, at Alma College. First serve inside the Art Smith Arena is 6:30 p.m.
