Women’s volleyball team starts MIAA play with three-set loss at Calvin

The Knights, ranked fifth in the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, won by scores of 25-8, 25-8, 25-10.

- The Knights raced out to a 7-0 lead in the opening set and never looked back. The 17-point margin at the end was Calvin's largest lead in the set.
- In the second set, the Knights led 9-1. Like the first set, the 17-point victory margin was the biggest advantage for Calvin.
- The third set saw the Knights take a 3-1 lead. The Comets came back to make the score 4-3. Calvin put the next three points on the scoreboard, and its lead stayed at least three points for the rest of the set.
- Olivet totaled 13 kills.
- Sophomore Olivia DuFore tallied a team-best five kills.
- Junior Ellie Louiselle was next with four kills.
- DuFore shared match-high honors with eight digs.
- Junior Kennedy Blackburn collected five set assists.
- Heidi Westra slammed down 10 kills, with one error on 18 attempts for a .500 attack percentage.
- Kelsey Smith posted a .692 hitting percentage, recording nine kills on 13 swings.
- Anna Schriemer dished out 28 set assists.
- Aubrey Wrubel also had eight digs.
- Olivet hosts a volleyball triangular Saturday inside the Cutler Event Center, starting at 11 a.m. The Comets face Alma College for a MIAA match and Finlandia University for a non-conference match.
