Women’s volleyball team loses twice at “Battle at the Point”

SANDUSKY, Ohio – The Olivet College women's volleyball team lost in three sets to Kenyon (Ohio) College and Allegheny (Pa.) College in day two competition at the 2021 "Battle at the Point" at the Cedar Point Sports Force Park in Sandusky, Ohio.

Final Score: Kenyon defeated Olivet 25-17, 29-27, 25-17

Records: Olivet 4-5 overall, Kenyon 2-4 overall

• In the first set, Kenyon led 9-0 and never looked back. The Comets fought back and trailed by only four points, 20-16, before the Ladies ended the set on a 5-1 run.
• Kenyon built a four-point lead early in the second set. Olivet chipped away at its deficit and leveled the score at 12-12. The Comets then took their first lead of the set 15-14. The teams traded points to create multiple tied scores. After the last time at 27-27, two kills for the Ladies handed them the set.
• Kenyon had the advantage for the duration of the third set.

• Sophomore Olivia DuFore recorded a team-best 10 kills.
• Junior Ellie Louiselle was next with six kills.
• Sophomore Morgan Dillon had five kills to go along with four blocks (two solo and two assisted).
• Freshman Madison Johnson registered 22 set assists.
• Senior Drue Mullin had a team-high 13 digs.

• Macy Reimbold and Paige Milhon finished with 11 and 10 kills, respectively.
• Jac Cousineau dished out 25 set assists.
• Reimbold had a team-leading 13 digs.

Final Score: Allegheny defeated Olivet 25-17, 26-24, 25-16

• Senior Jordyn Emelander finished with a team-seven kills, followed by DuFore with six.
• Johnson recorded 17 set assists.
• Mullin topped the back row with 12 digs.

• Emma Chambers posted a match-best 11 kills.
• Olivia D'Andrea and Meagan Robare split time at setter, tallying 15 and 12 assists, respectively.
• Robare also had a team-best 11 digs.

• The Comets are now off until Tuesday, September 21, when they open Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play at Calvin University. First serve at Van Noord Arena in Grand Rapids is at 6:30 p.m.
