Women’s volleyball team falls to Trine in three sets
The Olivet College volleyball team dropped a three-set match to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Trine (Ind.) University tonight at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College volleyball team dropped a three-set match to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Trine (Ind.) University tonight at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Neither team had more than a two-point lead early in the opening. Trine built the largest lead at 11-8 before the Comets came back with three straight points to level the score at 11-11. The Thunder regained the lead and extended it to as many as six points, 22-16. Olivet fought back with four consecutive points to close the gap to two points, 22-20. The Comets would not get any closer for the rest of the set.
- The Thunder opened the second set by scoring the first three points. Olivet came back by scoring five of the next six of the next eight points to take its first lead, 6-5. The Comets pushed its lead to as many as seven points, 20-13. Trine answered with a 7-1 run to make the score 21-20. Olivet scored the next point before the Thunder put the final five points on the scoreboard to win the set, 25-22.
- In the third set, the Comets led by four points, 16-12. Trine battled back to tie the set at 17-17 and 18-18. The Thunder ended the set on a 7-2 run.
FOR THE COMETS
- For the match, Olivet had four more kills than Trine, 40-36. The difference in the match was the Thunder had nine less attack errors and four more service errors.
- Sophomore Morgan Champion finished with a team-leading nine kills.
- Seniors Courtney Cronkright and Allison Turner, and sophomore Brittney Prince each had seven kills.
- Prince also recorded a team-best four blocks, including two solo.
- Sophomore Madelyn Notenbaum dished out 21 of team's 39 set assists.
- Sophomore libero Gabrielle Mundt collected a match-high 16 digs, while Cronkright and freshman Mia Parker each had 12.
FOR THE THUNDER
- Emma Gaff and Madison Munger each slammed down a team-best nine kills.
- Raven Hood had a team-best 20 set assists.
- Munger and Lindsey DeCamp tallied 10 digs apiece.
UP NEXT
- Olivet makes the trip to Jacksonville, Illinois, this Friday and Saturday to compete in the Illinois College Tournament. On Friday, the Comets play Concordia University-Chicago (Ill.) at 6:30 p.m. ET, followed by a match against the host Lady Blues. On Saturday, Olivet faces Principia (Ill.) College at 11 a.m. ET, followed by a match against Grinnell (Iowa) College.
