Volleyball team swept by No. 1 Calvin in season-finale
The Olivet College volleyball team was swept in three sets by Calvin College this afternoon at the Van Noord Arena in Grand Rapids. The Knights, ranked No. 1 in this week’s American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, claimed the 2016 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship with the victory.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College volleyball team was swept in three sets by Calvin College this afternoon at the Van Noord Arena in Grand Rapids. The Knights, ranked No. 1 in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, claimed the 2016 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship with the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights never trailed in the first two sets.
- In the third set, the Comets led 1-0 before Calvin scored eight straight points to go up 8-1. Olivet was never able to recover from the deficit.
FOR THE COMETS
- Freshman Brittney Prince finished with a team-best five kills.
- Senior Danielle Bearden recorded eight set assists.
- Senior Mona Hinamanu led Olivet with 11 digs.
FOR THE KNIGHTS
- Laura Danhoff pounded down a match-best 10 kills.
- Jenna Lodewyk collected 26 set assists.
- Keilahna Castillo registered 12 digs.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Today's match ended the Olivet career for three seniors – Bearden, Hinamanu and Re'Gene Thompson. Bearden played in the second-most matches in Olivet history with 114, and finishes with 2,588 set assists, which is third all-time. Hinamanu is the all-time digs leader with 1,620 digs.
- The Comets finish the year with 13 wins. With that win total, Olivet has posted back-to-back double digit win totals for only the second time in school history. The other time was 1981 (11 wins) and 1982 (22).
