FREELAND, Mich. – Olivet College freshman Madelyn Notenbaum has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Player of the Week for volleyball.
Last week, Notenbaum helped the Comets post a 4-1 record, including a 4-0 mark at the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawk Invitational. In five matches and 17 total sets played, she averaged 3.06 kills, 4.24 set assists and 2.47 digs per set. In addition, Notenbaum had seven service aces and 11 blocks. In two of the matches, she recorded a triple double to take over the lead among all NCAA Division III players with six in 2016.
"I am thrilled for Madelyn to receive this honor," said Olivet head coach Megan Merchant. "Although she is only a freshman, Madelyn has had to take on many roles on our team and has excelled in each of them."
Notenbaum and the Comets have begun preparations for a busy week, with three MIAA matches on the schedule. Tomorrow night, Olivet hosts Calvin at 6:30 p.m. On Friday night, the Comets travel to play Kalamazoo College at 7 p.m., and on Saturday morning, they welcome Alma College to The Cutler Event Center for an 11 a.m. match.
