Volleyball team falls at MIAA-leader and No. 7 Hope
The Olivet College volleyball team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader Hope College in straight sets tonight at the DeVos Fieldhouse in Holland. The Flying Dutch, No. 7 in the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 poll, won 25-12, 25-12, 25-18.

Senior Kim Travis (Shepherd) led Olivet with six kills and .333 hitting percentage. Freshman Melanie Merchant (St. Joseph) finished with four kills. At the service line, junior Ellen Schulz (Freeland) had two aces. Defensively, sophomore libero Mallory Schug (Climax/Galesburg-Augusta) recorded a team-leading 10 digs. Junior Jenessa Hicks (Union City) collected 10 set assists.
The Comets have the rest of this week off from competition and will play three matches next week. They will first take a break from MIAA play when they travel to play Rochester College Tuesday at 7 p.m. On Friday, Olivet hosts Saint Mary's (Ind.) College and on Saturday, the Comets play at Albion College at noon.
