Schulz earns Academic All-District honors in volleyball
Olivet College junior Ellen Schulz (Freeland) has been named to the 2009 ESPN The Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District IV third-team.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College junior Ellen Schulz (Freeland) has been named to the 2009 ESPN The Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District IV third-team in volleyball. She is the first volleyball player in school history to earn Academic All-District IV honors
Schulz has a perfect 4.0 grade point average (GPA) and is a mathematics/special education major. A middle hitter, she led the Comets with 64 total blocks, while also recording 113 kills, 34 service aces and 89 digs. Off the volleyball court, Schulz is a member of the Society of Hosford Scholars and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She has also been on the President's List (4.0 GPA) every semester, and was twice named to the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Academic Honor Roll.
Schulz is the daughter of Elmer Schulz and Melanie Ristau.
The Academic All-America® program recognizes student-athletes who have succeeded in athletic competition and in the classroom. The members of the All-District IV teams are selected by sports information directors in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. To be eligible, the student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30.
