Volleyball team splits two matches at Albion Quad
The Olivet College volleyball team split its two matches today at the Albion College Quad. The Comets fell to Albion College in five games before bouncing back to sweep Rochester College in three games.

The Olivet College volleyball team split its two matches today at the Albion College Quad. In the first match, the Comets rallied but ended up falling in five games to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Albion College today at Kresge Gymnasium in Albion. Olivet won the first game, 31-29, but the Britons came back to win the next two games, 30-21 and 30-26. The Comets forced a fifth game by winning game four, 30-27. Albion came from behind to win game five, 20-18.
In its second match, Olivet swept Rochester College in three games 30-20, 30-19, 30-19. The Comets will wrap-up play tomorrow with a 10 a.m. match against York (Pa.) College.
Against Albion, junior co-captain Mackenzie Heator (Union City) led Olivet with 18 kills and a .212 hitting percentage. Freshman Ellen Schulz (Freeland) and sophomore co-captain Jennie Malm (Bridgman) also posted double-digit kills with 17 and 13, respectively. Freshman Jenessa Hicks (Union City) contributed 56 assists, while junior Courtney Lewis (Battle Creek/St. Philip) recorded a match-high 24 digs. Malm and junior Lindsey Tarrant (Metamore/Oxford) each finished with 22 digs.
Against Rochester, Schulz had a team-high 10 kills. Malm and Tarrant were next with six kills a piece. Tarrant also topped the defense with 19 digs. Hicks recorded 25 assists.
Following tomorrow's match against York, Olivet will travel to play Adrian College next Tuesday, Oct. 26, at 6:30 p.m.
