Volleyball team falls to Calvin and Anderson at Midwest Invitational
The Olivet College volleyball team fell to Calvin College in three games (30-11, 30-25, 30-17) and Anderson (Ind.) University in four games (32-30, 30-27, 28-30, 30-28) today in pool play at the Midwest Invitational, which was hosted by Calvin.

The Olivet College volleyball team fell to Calvin College in three games (30-11, 30-25, 30-17) and Anderson (Ind.) University in four games (32-30, 30-27, 28-30, 30-28) today in pool play at the Midwest Invitational, which was hosted by Calvin.
The match against Calvin served two purposes as it counted as an MIAA regular season match and as a first round pool play match.
Against the Knights, freshman Sydney Kuipers (Charlotte) led Olivet with eight kills. Senior Katie Schaum (Marshall) was second with five. Sophomore Jessica Petkus (Milford) posted a team-high 23 set assists. Sophomore Meghan Smith (Rochester Hills/Adams) topped the defense with 12 digs.
Against Anderson, three Comets recorded double digit kills. Kuipers recorded a team-high 19 kills, followed by Schaum with 16 and freshman Theresa Martin (Charlevoix) with 13. Kuipers also led the defense with 24 digs. Petkus finished 55 set assists.
Olivet wraps up play tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. against North Park (Ill.) University, followed by a 1:30 p.m. match against Hanover (Ind.) College.
