Volleyball team loses twice at Franklin (Ind.) College Quad
The Olivet College volleyball team lost two matches today at the Franklin (Ind.) College Quad. The Comets (4-18) opened the day with a 25-30, 30-27, 30-28, 30-20 loss to Maranatha Baptist Bible (Wisc.) College and then fell 30-24, 30-19, 25-30, 30-21, to the host Grizzles.

The Olivet College volleyball team lost two matches today at the Franklin (Ind.) College Quad. The Comets (4-18) opened the day with a 25-30, 30-27, 30-28, 30-20 loss to Maranatha Baptist Bible (Wisc.) College and then fell 30-24, 30-19, 25-30, 30-21, to the host Grizzles.
Against Maranatha, freshman Sydney Kuipers (Charlotte) and senior Katie Schaum (Marshall) posted double digit kills with 18 and 14, respectively. Freshman Mackenzie Heator (Union City) was next with eight kills to go along with nine blocks. Sophomore Jessica Petkus (Milford) recorded 51 set assists. Schaum also topped the defense with 23 digs.
Against Franklin, Kuipers finished with 10 kills, followed by Heator with nine and Schaum with eight. Schaum also tallied team-high honors in digs (13) and service aces (2). Petkus added 35 set assists.
Olivet resumes Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play Wednesday, Oct. 19, when it travels for a 6 p.m. ET match at Tri-State (Ind.) University.
