Volleyball team loses twice at Adrian
The Olivet College volleyball team dropped two matches today in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tri-Match at Adrian College. The Comets (3-11, 2-3 MIAA) opened play with a 30-19, 30-25, 30-15 loss to the host Bulldogs, followed by a 30-16, 31-29, 30-15 loss to Hope College.

The Olivet College volleyball team dropped two matches today in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tri-Match at Adrian College. The Comets (3-11, 2-3 MIAA) opened play with a 30-19, 30-25, 30-15 loss to the host Bulldogs, followed by a 30-16, 31-29, 30-15 loss to Hope College.
Against Adrian, freshmen Sydney Kuipers (Charlotte) and Mackenzie Heator (Union City) recorded nine kills apiece. Freshman Theresa Martin (Charlevoix) was next with seven kills, followed by senior Katie Schaum (Marshall) with six. Sophomore Jessica Petkus (Milford) had a team-high 32 set assists. Sophomore Meghan Smith (Rochester Hills/Adams) finished with 11 digs.
Against Hope, Schaum led the Comets with 10 kills with two errors in 25 attacks for a .400 hitting percentage. Heator along with junior Kara Brinker (North Branch) each had five kills. Petkus added 24 set assists while Smith had a team-high eight digs.
Olivet will travel to play Kalamazoo College Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m.
