Volleyball drops two matches at Hanover (Ind.) Invitational
The Olivet College volleyball team dropped two matches today at the Hanover (Ind.) College Invitational. The Comets ended pool play with a 30-15, 30-19, 29-31, 30-18 loss to Denison (Ohio) University. Olivet fell to Ohio Wesleyan University 30-25, 30-21, 30-27 in the seventh-place match.

Against Denison, senior Katie Schaum (Marshall) led the Comets (1-7) with 10 kills, followed by freshman Mackenzie Heator (Union City) and junior Kara Brinker (North Branch) with eight and six kills, respectively. Sophomore Jessica Petkus (Milford) finished with 31 set assists while sophomore Meghan Smith (Rochester Hills/Adams) had 31 digs.
Against Ohio Wesleyan, freshman Joli Schlabach (Colon) tallied a team-high eight kills. Brinker and Schaum had seven kills apiece. Petkus tallied 27 set assists, and Smith added 30 digs.
Olivet will open Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play next Tuesday, Sept. 13, when it travels for a 7 p.m. EST match at Saint Mary's (Ind.) College.
