Volleyball team defeats Tri-State (Ind.), 30-27, 30-20, 34-32
The Olivet College volleyball team defeated Tri-State (Ind.) University 30-27, 30-20, 34-32, this evening in a play-in match of the 2004 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tournament at the Upton Center in Olivet.

University 30-27, 30-20, 34-32, this evening in a play-in match of the 2004 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tournament at the Upton Center in Olivet. The Lady Comets (9-23) advance to play at #1 seed Alma College tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
Junior outside hitter Katie Schaum (Marshall High School) led Olivet with 15 kills, 18 digs and two service aces. Freshmen Alicia Barton (Jackson High School) and Katie Fiero (Jackson High School) were next with nine kills each. Barton had only one attack in 22 attempts for a .364 hitting percentage. Fiero and sophomore Kara Brinker (North Branch High School) topped the team with four blocks apiece.
Freshman Jessica Petkus (Milford High School) recorded 34 set assists. Freshman Marie Pierce (Climax-Scotts High School) had 13 digs, followed by freshman Kelli Roe (Galesburg Augusta High School) with 12.
Tri-State ends its season with a 7-27 overall record.
