Schaum named MIAA Player of the Week

Olivet College junior outside hitter Katie Schaum (Marshall High School) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Player of the Week for volleyball.
In a MIAA triangular Oct. 9 at Olivet, Schaum recorded double-digit stats in kills and digs against Tri-State (Ind.) University and Alma College. In a four-game victory over Tri-State, she was credited with 23 kills and 19 digs along with five block assists. In a three-game loss to Alma College, Schaum had 10 kills and 16 digs. The win against Tri-State snapped a 33-match losing streak in MIAA play for the Comets.
Schaum and the Lady Comets (6-15, 1-9 MIAA) are next in action Tuesday, Oct. 12 at Adrian College at 7 p.m.
