Volleyball team defeated by Hope College
The Olivet College volleyball team was defeated by Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Hope College 30-25, 30-19, 30-28, this evening at the Upton Center in Olivet.

The Lady Comet (6-21, 1-11 MIAA) front row was led by junior Katie Schaum (Marshall High School), who had 10 kills and four solo blocks. Freshman Marie Pierce (Climax-Scotts High School) was next with nine kills and a .250 hitting percentage. Freshman Alicia Barton (Jackson High School) contributed seven kills with only one attack error in 17 attempts for a .353 hitting percentage.
Freshman Jessica Petkus (Milford High School) had a team-high 28 set assists and 13 digs. Freshman Meghan Smith (Rochester Adams High School) and Schaum had nine and eight digs, respectively.
Olivet is next in action Saturday, Oct. 23, when it participates in a MIAA triangular at Calvin College. The Comets play Tri-State (Ind.) University at 2 p.m., followed by a 4 p.m. match against the host Knights.
