Volleyball team swept by MIAA leader Alma College in three games
The Olivet College volleyball team was swept by Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader Alma College in three games, 30-19, 30-20, 30-23, tonight at Cappaert Gymnasium in Alma.
The Olivet College volleyball team was swept by Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader Alma College in three games, 30-19, 30-20, 30-23, tonight at Cappaert Gymnasium in Alma. Alma remained perfect on the season with a 19-0 overall record and 7-0 MIAA mark.
Freshman Katie Fiero (Jackson High School) led the Lady Comet (5-12, 0-7 MIAA) front row attack with six kills. Junior Katie Schaum (Marshall High School), sophomore Kara Brinker (North Branch High School) and freshman Alicia Barton (Jackson High School) were next with five apiece.
Schaum had a team-best five service aces. Freshman Meghan Smith (Rochester Adams High School) topped the defense with 14 digs, followed by freshman Jessica Petkus (Milford High School) with 13. Petkus also had 23 set assists.
Olivet is next in action Saturday, Oct. 2, when it travels to play Kalamazoo College at 11 a.m.
