Volleyball team is runner-up at Oberlin (Ohio) Tournament
The Olivet College volleyball team finished in second-place today at the annual Oberlin (Ohio) College Tournament. For their efforts, junior outside hitter Katie Schaum (Marshall High School) and freshman libero Meghan Smith (Rochester Adams High School) were named to the all-tournament team.

The Olivet College volleyball team finished in second-place today at the annual Oberlin (Ohio) College Tournament. For their efforts, junior outside hitter Katie Schaum (Marshall High School) and freshman libero Meghan Smith (Rochester Adams High School) were named to the all-tournament team.
This morning, the Lady Comets wrapped up pool play with a 30-18, 30-19, 30-20 win over University of Pitt.-Greensburg (Pa.). They fell to Westminster (Pa.) College in the championship match, 30-28, 30-22, 30-22. Yesterday, Olivet defeated Grove City (Pa.) College and the host Yeowomen.
In four matches, Schaum had 21 service aces, including nine against Grove City, 45 kills and 56 digs. Smith topped Olivet with 69 digs. Freshman outside hitter Marie Pierce (Climax-Scotts High School) had a team-best 47 kills and a .282 hitting percentage. Freshman setter Jessica Petkus (Milford High School) was credited with 107 set assists along with 47 digs. Sophomore defensive specialist Shannon Hall (Taylor Truman High School) had 58 digs and eight service aces.
Olivet is next in action this Wednesday, Sept. 8, when it resumes Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play at home against Calvin College at 7 p.m.
